Geothermal energy utilization trends from a technological paradigm perspective

The use of geothermal energy and its associated technologies has been increasing worldwide. However, there has been little paradigmatic research conducted in this area. This paper proposes a systematic methodology to research the development trends for the sustainable development of geothermal energy. A novel data analysis system was created to research the geothermal energy utilization trends, and a technological paradigm theory was adopted to explain the technological changes. A diffusion velocity model was used to simulate and forecast the geothermal power generation development in the diffusion phase. Simulation results showed that the development of installed capacity for geothermal generation had a strong inertia force along with the S-curve. Power generation from geothermal power sources reached a peak in 2008 and is estimated to be saturated by 2030. Geothermal energy technologies in hybrid power systems based on other renewable energy sources look to be more promising in the future.

数学专业方向设置的问题初探——基于广东工业大学数学专业优化与调整的七年实践

通过在广东工业大学数学专业7年的专业调整实践，探索了广东工业大学应用数学学院以信息科学、统计科学为数学专业方向的社会时代背景，说明了各个专业方向培养的侧重点和就业前景，阐明了传统学科专业与新增专业方向的联系与区别。     

The Locus of Redundant-Targets and Nontargets Effects: Evidence From the Psychological Refractory Period Paradigm.

In target detection tasks, responses are faster when displays have 2 targets (redundant-targets effect; RTE) and slower when they have no targets (nontargets effect; NTE) relative to displays with a single target. The psychological refractory period paradigm was used to localize these effects. In Experiment 1, participants classified tones as high or low and then classified letters as targets or nontargets after a short or long stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA). The magnitudes of the RTE and NTE did not depend on SOA. In Experiment 2, the order of the tasks was reversed, and at short SOAs the RTE and NTE had similar magnitudes for both tone discrimination and target detection responses. These findings suggest that the RTE and NTE arise during response selection. Interactive effects of tone pitch with the number and type of target features were also observed, and these were tentatively interpreted as synesthetic effects. From product-oriented to process-oriented: Emerging new engineering paradigm

The conventional approach has put emphasis upon reducing labour, and increasing efficiency and uniformity. But this holds good only in the mass production paradigm. As we are entering the age of small production with far wider varieties, these principles of yesterday should be re-examined. Labour itself sometimes gives satisfaction if it involves the joy of creation, and longer time does not necessarily mean just patience, it sometimes turns into expectation if greater joy will be provided later. Too much fitness for the purpose sometimes means lack of robustness and adaptability to the quickly and widely changing environment. Thus, we should reconsider the items we thought important in the mass production age to aptly cope with the diversification of each customer’s requirements.     

Automatic processing of psychological distance: Evidence from a Stroop task.

A picture-word version of the Stroop task was used to test the automatic activation of psychological distance by words carrying various senses of psychological distance: temporal (tomorrow, in a year), social (friend, enemy), and hypotheticality (sure, maybe). The pictures implied depth, with the words appearing relatively close to or distant from the observer. The participants classified the spatial distance of words faster when the word's implicit psychological distance matched its spatial distance (e.g., a geographically close word was classified faster when it was "friend" than when it was "enemy"). The findings are consistent with the idea that psychological distance is accessed automatically, even when it is not directly related to people's current goals, and suggest that psychological distance is an important dimension of meaning, common to spatial distance, temporal distance, social distance, and hypotheticality.
